A Vibrant & Spiritually-Empowered Community

Our Vision and Mission

The Call

Vision.

At Science of Mind Africa (SOMA), we believe that every person holds innate wisdom, dignity, and creative potential.

The Action

Mission.

To teach, translate, and share the principles of Science of Mind across Africa, providing tools to foster personal empowerment, self-awareness, and personal freedom. We support spiritual awakening and conscious community development.

From Vision to Vibration:
The Birth of SOMA

Science of Mind Africa (SOMA) was born from a vision that Science of Mind teachings could grow beyond one country and become a source of spiritual empowerment across the African continent. During visioning for the 2024 Science of Mind conference, many participants saw Kenya as a pulsing heart sending waves of spiritual awakening throughout Africa. That image stayed alive as a call to expand the teaching beyond Kenya and into a wider African context.

In January 2025, that call became clear. After prayer and deep listening in the early hours of the morning, Michele Taylor LSP, received the inspiration to begin what was first called the East Africa Science of Mind Study Group. By the next morning, the process had begun. As conversations unfolded with African leaders and students, it became clear that the vision was larger than East Africa alone. The name evolved into Science of Mind Africa (SOMA)—a name that reflected both the breadth of the vision and the commitment to growing an African-led spiritual community rooted in Science of Mind principles.

SOMA officially became a Science of Mind Study Group on April 15, 2025, and continued to grow quickly through translation projects, classes, leadership development, and community outreach. By November 2025, SOMA had become an official Centers for Spiritual Living Teaching Chapter, marking a new chapter in its development. What began as a spiritual idea has become a living movement—one dedicated to teaching, translating, and sharing Science of Mind across Africa while nurturing empowered leaders, thriving communities, and a deeper experience of spiritual freedom.

SOMA Today

July 1, 2026

There is much to look forward to as SOMA continues to grow. We are teaching classes, holding in person and Zoom Meet-Ups, Teen Girl’s Camp, Woke Mtaa (Young Men’s group) Camp, and have just started our Thursday Series of talks, meditations, journaling, Life Stories, and more.

As SOMA continues to grow, new pathways for healing, connection, and spiritual education are opening across Africa. We are preparing to launch both a Grief Support Group and a Women’s Group while expanding our translation and creative work, including the recording of our first Science of Mind song in Kiswahili, There Is Only Love. To date, SOMA has translated three full Ernest Holmes books into Kiswahili, along with ten archival pamphlets, helping make these teachings accessible to more people in their own language.

Our community continues to deepen and expand, with 60 members in our English WhatsApp community and 56 in our Tanzania-based Kiswahili community. As the vision grows, so does our reach. Our next area of expansion is Nanyuki, in Kenya’s Rift Valley near Mount Kenya, where we look forward to nurturing new connections, supporting emerging leaders, and sharing the transformative principles of Science of Mind with even more communities.

We invite you to join us as SOMA continues to grow across Africa—expanding spiritual education, nurturing leaders, and building communities rooted in spiritual truth, empowerment, and transformation.
